My training with Sensei Kimura began in 1987, the same year that my father passed away. That was over 30 years ago. Sensei  Kimura was a man of limited English, but when he spoke he was deeply profound; often requiring that you reflect on his words to fully appreciate their meaning.
Not long before he died, Sensei Kimura told me that he pronounced my last name as "Nigurai" and asked me if I knew what "Shi" meant (His hand writing the Kanji in the air). When I told him that I didn't, his reply was "Anyway, You are Shi Ni Gu Rai" and encouraged me to read the Hagakure - The book of the Samurai. I discovered the term in one of the stories; it described a particular Samurai as being "Crazy to Die".

Our instructors come from various countries throughout the world with decades of teaching experience.  Many of them have retired from careers in Law Enforcement, and the Military where they were both experienced operators as well as Instructors.
